Dismantled a shorthanded Al Shabab team with what could have been a turnaround result. Times are good for the soon-to-be UAE representatives at CWC later in the year.

The Brazilian frontment stepped up to do the damage this week, firing in a few goals dismantling Al Ain. Al Wasl haven’t quite peaked in terms of performance, but perhaps put in their best to come from three goals down to beat the Champions. It appears the team is hitting their annual summer stride, even if it hasn’t always been pretty.

Next AGL match: Away at Dibba Al Fujairah (28/4)

Quite a performance from Al Ahli, who bounced back from a mediocre draw against Al Wasl last week. Led by their well acquired tallyman Makhete Diop and playmaker Everton Ribeiro. NYCFC has won four of their last five, securing the AFC Champions League Qualifier spot.

Latest result: Won at Al Wahda 2-1
Next AGL match: Home against Sharjah (29/4)

This game called for any of the two to fall. In this case it would be Al Wahda in a game that should have at least yielded a draw. The loss to Al Ahli was sort of expected so not surprising really.
LAST WEEK: 2

Latest result: Lost against Al Ahli 1-2
Next AGL match: Away at Al Ain (29/4)

A shocker of a result. To lose a game after scoring three goals in succession is horrific. What makes it worse is that Al Ain could possibly miss out on representing UAE in Asia.

Next AGL match: Home against Al Wahda (29/4)

Gutsy. Sharjah somehow found a way to grind out a win by scoring a short-handed game-winner via the Venezuelan who seems to have found his footing. The performances of a season, for a team with a reputation for stealing results despite improbable odds.

Friday’s performance shows exactly why Hatta deserve to remain in top flight. They were able to grind out a win after going a man down. It’s long past time to stop wondering if Hatta are for real. Now, it’s time to wonder just how far they can go – perhaps not this season but the next.

Lost track of those beneath them amid a strong run of results. A lackluster performance from a squad who was everything but their usual selves.

Avenged their 5 goal loss against Al Ain with a five goal win of their own. A team reeling from the departure of Omar Khirbin, safe to say they found their own among those in the middle of the table.

Another frustrating week for Kalba, who managed only one point from the game instead of the three. Could have stopped their seven game winless streak but did not have enough gas to stop the equalizer in the 90+4 minute. Hopefully a lesson learnt?

Emirates’ defense remains woeful, and it showed again on Friday. Lacking shutout as far as we can remember, Emirates continue to struggle on the defensive side of things, and their single win since early February is very indicative of just how poor Emirates are at separating themselves.

Baniyas has been and continues to struggle. One point is better than none but their fall to the first division is imminent now.

The change in management has done little to right the ship in the short term. Al Shabab were hapless in defeat, showing no progress from a team in danger of falling well out of the picture of notable teams across the nation.
