Al Wasl Week 6

1

Another 3-1 victory. Another flawless victory, though they gave up that goal. This team is on course to better things in UAE and Asia. Lima is scoring at will since moving to Al Qusais.
LAST WEEK: 1
HIGH: 1 | LOW: 3
Latest result: Won against Al Wahda 3-1
Next AGL match: Home to Dibba Al Fujairah (10/31)
2

Hey, so Felipe Bastos is quite important, isn’t he? We still think the Al Ain are league favourites, but they clearly have depth concerns in defence.
LAST WEEK: 2
HIGH: 1 | LOW: 2
Latest result: Won at Al Shabab 4-1
Next AGL match: Home to Al Jazira (10/30)
3

It wasn’t pretty, but kudos to the paraphrase “You have to be able to win ugly to be successful in this game”. Good three points.
LAST WEEK: 3
HIGH: 3 | LOW: 7
Latest result: Won at Dibba Al Fujairah 2-1
Next AGL match: Home to Al Shabab (10/29)
4

Thought hard on dropping them because they remain unbeaten in six, and with the attacking match-made in heaven duo of Belfodil and Larrivey, it feels like Baniyas are primed for a run at the top of the table.
LAST WEEK: 3
HIGH: 3 | LOW: 5
Latest result: Draw against Al Jazira 2-2
Next AGL match: Away at Al Dhafra (10/31)
5

Power Rankings sees good thing in Al Wasl’s future with the team looking like they have started to communicate with each other. On raw Brazilian talent this is, a top-five team in the league.
LAST WEEK: 7
HIGH: 4 | LOW: 10
Latest result: Won against Fujairah 5-1
Next AGL match: Away at Emirates (10/29)
6

Put up a fight against the champions after early errors but just could not match up in terms of finishing the chances – and there were multiple.
LAST WEEK: –
HIGH: 4 | LOW: 6
Latest result: Lost against Al Ain 1-4
Next AGL match: Away at Al Nasr (10/29)
7

Starting to feel a bit like the Al Jazira of old. Though, they had clicked offensively for now, they’re struggling to figure out defensive issues which shouldn’t occur in the first place. But they got a point which deserves them a move up the Power Rankings.
LAST WEEK: 9
HIGH: 6 | LOW: 11
Latest result: Draw against Baniyas 2-2
Next AGL match: Away at Al Ain (10/24)
8

Huge, hard earned three points against Dhafra. Emirates have realized that a single point is going to matter against similar opponents, in the survival race.
LAST WEEK: 11
HIGH: 7 | LOW: 10
Latest result: Won at Al Dhafra 3-2
Next AGL match: Home t0 Al Wasl (10/29)
9

Now here is a team we were seriously considering dropping. The lack of any ability from the entire 11 isn’t helping, either. They look vulnerable while Valdivia looked like he is beginning to question his move.
LAST WEEK: 6
HIGH: 3 | LOW: 9
Latest result: Lost to Al Ahli 1-3
Next AGL match: Away at Al Shaab (10/30)
10

Does this strike from Muhain Khalifa Mukhain call for Sharjah’s resurgence? It should.
LAST WEEK: 13
HIGH: 9 | LOW: 12
Latest result: Won against Al Shaab 2-0
Next AGL match: Away at Fujairah (10/31)

Well, another high scoring loss from another Dubai based team. They just got Brazilian-ed.
LAST WEEK: 8
HIGH: 8 | LOW: 14
Latest result: Lost at Al Wasl 1-5
Next AGL match: Home to Sharjah (10/31)
12

Though, it’s too early in the game to say this, Dhafra’s hopes of survival are on life support. Has enough talent to carve out wins against teams of similar calibre. Anything less against those opponents, and you can call it ends.
LAST WEEK: 12
HIGH: 11 | LOW: 13
Latest result: Lost to Emirates 2-3
Next AGL match: Home to Baniyas (10/31)
13

Seemed like they came to play…. in the half at least. Took the lead in the 3rd minute, with more shots on goal than Al Nasr, surprising everyone, but gave up silly goals, bringing us back to believe, oh yes, this is Dibba of course.
LAST WEEK: 10
HIGH: 7 | LOW: 14
Latest result: Lost to Al Nasr 1-2
Next AGL match: Away at Al Ahli (10/31)
14

The Power Rankings truly feels for Al Shaab fans. No end in sight to their misery having earned only a point in their last six games.
LAST WEEK: 14
