Dubai, UAE – 9 Feb 2015 – In only the second week of the Dubai Schools Cup, students displayed outstanding performances, raising their game as they compete for the victory title. In a further astounding performance, a total of 149 goals in total were scored this week for the group fixtures.
In the age group boys U12 the Hatta Primary School for Boys and Al Khaleej National School are leading the qualification stage while in the age group girls U17 Lycee Francais International George Pompidou (LFIGP) and Winchester School Jebel Ali are even with 6 points each with LFIGP leading in goals at 14.
“In the second week of the cup we are already witnessing the significance of this tournament as it truly has become a second home for these students. We are extremely proud to be contributing to building the future champions in this sport who are demonstrating focus, commitment, humility and team spirit on and off the field with such a great passion for the game.” said Hussein Murad, CEO Inspiratus, the organizers of the Dubai Schools Cup.
A growing number of parents and sports enthusiasts from the Dubai community were present at the Cup this week and they were quick to comment on the young players’ impressive performance and teamwork and tactics on the field.

In the boys U14 category, newcomers New Academy School faced off against Al Sadiq Islamic English School on the Tahoe Pitch in an exciting match that ended in a 3-1 win for New Academy.
Amr Omar Salha father of 2 boys and 1 girl from New World Private School who are all playing in the tournament said, “This tournament has been an amazing experience for my children. It has positively affected their moral, they are very motivated, and their productivity levels have increased. I really want them to continue playing and would love to see them play professionally one day.”
Yassine Mahmoud Chouaieb Coach from the Arab Unity School U14 and U16 boys said, “This tournament gives us an amazing opportunity to compete against all schools at a very high level. Because of this tournament we are now training twice a week in preparation for the matches and my players are much more focused on and off the filed. In addition to our boys teams we hope to have a girls team ready to play next year.”

The most memorable match of the day to watch was age group boys U-16 International School of Choueifat Dubai vs. GEMS Winchester School in Oud Metha. Choueifat established a 4-1 lead within 6 minutes of the game and dominated at 10-2.
Off the field, players, and a large turnout of parents and members of the Dubai community enjoyed the exciting activations courtesy of cup sponsors Chevrolet. Players and fans tested their accuracy at the Crossbar Challenge, showcasing their skills at the fan competition area for a chance to win a portable outdoor speaker.
180 participants competed in the dribbling competition that focused on speed and precision on the Trax Pitch for a mega Nike Gift Pack courtesy of Al Ghandi, which includes an Official Manchester United Home Jersey, Nike Football Bag and AED 500 gift voucher.
Other highlights from the week include the test drive and “Shoot Your Way to Old Trafford” which allows visitors to enjoy the spirit of football on and off the pitch. By test-driving the weekly selection of vehicles, participants are automatically entitled to participate in the shoot-out on February 21. Winners will enjoy an all-expense paid trip for the most high profile derby match Manchester United vs. Manchester City on April.11. The teams that will continue to the knock out stage are yet to be determined as crucial play and competition is ahead of them next week when the school knockouts will lead into the highly anticipated playoffs.
Next week’s highlights include the much anticipated 7-a-side Dad vs Dad-The Ultimate Champions Match. Organizers have announced that all seven winners will take a Chevrolet home for a weekend experience. This event is open to all players’ fathers.
