Arsenal have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin in a move that would see him arrive in the summer according to the Metro. The fee is believed to be around £15 million.
The Saints are thought to be shopping for a replacement for the 25 year old ahead of his departure in the summer. The French midfielder has been a part of a Saints team this season that has showed remarkable consistency in the league. He has formed a solid partnership with Victor Wanyama and Steven Davis at the heart of Ronald Koeman’s team in midfield as they continue that unlikely push for a top four finish. Their wonderful combination ensured Arsenal fans won’t be buying Capital One Cup Final 2015 Tickets this season as they were ousted by the saints in the 3rd round of the competition.
Morgan Schneiderlin has continually been linked with a move to Arsenal for over a year. This latest report is just one of the several reports that have linked him with a move to North London.
He was close to a move away from the St. Mary’s last summer, but it was North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur that came close to signing him after they had a bid rejected for the midfielder. He had hoped to reunite with Mauricio Pochettino at the time, but the move did not come off.
Following the reemergence of Francis Coquelin in Arsenal’s midfield over the cause of January and the festive period, the manager is believed to have a shelved any plans of bringing any midfielder until at least the summer. Something, Thierry Henry alluded to when he said on Sky Sports that, in January, clubs go for players that are available, while they sign the players they want in the summer, with particular reference to Arsenal. And this, Morgan Schneiderlin is believed to be the club’s prime target for the summer.
With Southampton’s solid display this season, any move was off the radar in January. A point the French international raised when he spoke to the French media, that the summer would be an ideal time to move away from the South Coast.
The French midfielder’s capture would be a coup for Arsenal, as he has continually put up solid displays for the Saints since they regained promotion back to the Premier League three seasons ago. A midfield of Schneiderlin and Francis Coquelin would bring unrivalled solidity to Arsenal’s midfield, something never before seen since the days of the invincibles. A scenario, which means the platform for a title challenge, would have been set for next season.
Although, the £15 million being reported would be widely below his valuation, as the fee being mooted range between £25 million to £30 million.

everything should be according to the contract.
Utter tosh, what are you smoking. £15 million for perhaps the best defensive midfielder in the PL and why would he go to Arsenal. If he goes it will be to a much bigger European club.
You have to be frickin joking. Cant see how Saints have agreed to sell anyone to a club competing for a top four spot especially if say it was down to the wire with Arshol. It would be a major conflict of interest. Anyway If Saints do get to Europe he will want to stay anyway. And 15 mil ? seriously ? you are definatley having a laugh. So sick of these arrogant bastards.
Nonsense, awful reporting! Saints hope for Saintly behavior from the press, never get it. The metro and daily star completely twisted a speculative piece from the French Newspaper, L’Equipe. The original article never said there was an agreement or even discussions! Rough translation below.
The midfielder continues to grow at Southampton, he hoped to leave last summer before being blocked by Ronald Koeman, the club’s new manager. But the 25 year old received a verbal promise from the club leaders to be released if a suitable offer comes in. Arsenal could offer around €20m from the opening of the summer market to buy the last two years of his contract.’
