18-time international titles winner AC Milan scored their way to a 4-2 victory over 2014 UEFA Champions League winner Real Madrid in the action-packed 5th edition of the Dubai Football Challenge (DFC) at The Sevens Stadium this evening, as spectators from the emirate, region and beyond celebrated the footballing giants facing off in the city.

Sports fans were treated to a display of the finest footballing action from 8pm, as stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Stephan El Shaarawy demonstrated why they are amongst the globe’s top sporting personalities. The last match of the year globally, co-organised by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Emirates Airline, was won by AC Milan thanks to an opening strike by Jérémy Ménez, two goals by El Shaarawy and header by striker Giampaolo Pazzini – and broadcast to more than 400 million households worldwide Superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo scored Real Madrid’s opening goal while Karim Benzema added a second for the Spanish giants from the penalty spot.

Hamad Mohammed Bin Mejren, Executive Director of Dubai Events and Convention Bureau at DTCM, a coordinating partner of the Dubai Football Challenge, said: “This evening’s football match was momentous for our city, as Dubai once again demonstrated its sporting credentials by welcoming two of the globe’s top football teams and some of the world’s best players to play in the emirate.

It was an incredibly exciting match, and the atmosphere from the fans was electric.
