Nike does not seem to take a breather anytime soon when it comes to sanctioning great content featuring top athletes.
The sportswear brand, in preparation for the upcoming World Cup, announced the release of an animated short film entitled ‘The Last Game’.
The film created by the brand’s creative agency Wieden + Kennedy along with Passion Pictures featuring Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Wayne Rooney among many more focused around the need to save the game from extinction. ‘The Last Game’ embodies the third part of the ‘Risk Everything’ campaign launched in April with the ‘Risk Everything‘ and the ‘Winner Stays‘ ads being the previous two.
The animation includes abstracts of Ronaldo coming off his famous stance, Zlatan doing the unusual and Neymar dancing around the ball in speeds that would make you think. The only person, who looked out of place in these below adverts, was Rooney who appeared as a subjugated fisherman who gets caught in a net. Yes Rooney – a fisherman!!!
Nike’s CMO – David Grasso had to say this regarding the animation:
“Be prepared, ‘The Last Game’ captures the true heart and soul of football: risk everything, create brilliantly and play to win always. The film proves that predictability; caution and uniformity have no place in the beautiful game. That’s the message of The Last Game. We made it to inspire. We want footballers everywhere to take the risks that will define their legacies.”
This very well might be the first time that Nike had ventured into an animation for a complete advertisement dedicated to football. However, we will be looking forward to the full version of the animation as it is released on Monday, June 9 at 5:00 pm UK Time.
