It’s that time again where certain individuals from across the globe decide on who was the better of the two between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s not compelling anymore. So let’s focus on the more entertaining bit of the awards – The best goal scored in the year.

The award is based on the Hungarian Ferenc Puskás, the legendary striker who represented the Real Madrid team of 1950’s and was once, a world record holder of highest number of goals scored for a country – 84 in 85 games.

The ones making the list this year are:

Danish – Peter Ankersen (Esbjerg IB – AGF, SAS Ligaen, 10 Aug. 2013)

Austrailan – Lisa De Vanna (Sky Blue FC – Boston Breakers, NWSL, 1 June 2013)

Italian – Antonio Di Natale (Udinese – Chievo, Serie A, 7 Apr. 2013

Swede – Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden – England, International friendly, 13 Nov. 2012)

Greek – Panagiotis Kone (Napoli – Bologna, Serie A, 16 Dec. 2012)

Mexican – Daniel Ludueña (Pachua – Tigers, Apertura Liga MX, 27 July 2013)

Serbian – Nemanja Matic (Benfica – Porto, Liga Sagres, 13 Jan. 2013)

French – Louisa Necib (Lyon – Saint-Etienne, D1 Feminine, 17 Mar. 2013)

Brazilian – Neymar (Brazil – Japan, FIFA Confederations Cup, 15 June 2013)

Uruguayan – Juan Manuel Olivera (Nautico – Sport Recife, Copa Sudamericana, 28 Aug. 2013)

You can click here to vote for the person with the best goal out of this list. You have less than a month to vote as the initial entries will end on 9th December.

The top three goals with the most votes will then be up for a second vote, wherein you can go in and pick your favorite of those three (until 13th January, 2013).

Now, who do you think deserves the award?
