The notion of testimonial matches always suggests that the spotlight be put on that one specific individual in whose name the game is being played.
That was not the case in a recent match held at the Lokomotiv Stadium (Home of FC Lokomotiv Moscow) to honor former Russian international Vadim Valentinovich Evseev who retired from Belarusian club – Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino.
His playing career spanned, a worth mentioning, 19 years representing Russian clubs like Spartak, Torpedo and Lokomotiv Moscow.
In the 67th minute, a 5 year-old boy named Hrisan Dzheus whose father is the Director of a Russian children’s charity that Evseev represents replaced him. Sort of a thank-you for all his hard work he has done with the charity, I guess.
It was indeed another feel-good moment as the players fooled around on the pitch in order to let Hrisan score. And what a goal it was! You can fast forward to about 60 seconds in order to watch the goal.
Actions like this will always justify our pride and love for this beautiful sport that we have.
