While everyone else had either talked or is talking about the deadline day transfer activity especially focusing on that of Arsenal’s, why should I leave the topic behind?

Let’s look at the latest transfer acquisitions done by Arsenal.

Chu Young Park playing for MonacoChu Young Park: Below is part of the conversation that took place between me and a hardcore Arsenal supporter:

Hardcore Arsenal supporter: Park is just awesome. Did you hear about the 6 – 0 win S. Korea had against Lebanon and guess what (with an evil smirk on his face). Park scored a hatrick (again with an evil smirk on his face).

Me: Isn’t that the same team (referring to Lebanon) that played UAE a while back where a guy scored a back-heel penalty. If you guys do not what I am talking about, take a look at the link here.

Hardcore Arsenal supporter: Yes, but just wait and see.

Mikel Arteta: No comment. Let’s just hope he is fit to play the first few games. Just surprised that he actually passed a medical.

Yossi Benayoun: Consistency would be the biggest problem here along with long lasting injury issues.

Pers Mertesacker: The lanky defender is also known as the German pole in the Bundesliga. Well, was also considered as the slowest defender in the league. He would definitely be an asset against Stoke if not the others.

Andre Santos: Can’t really say anything about him, as I have never watched him play. However, from what I have heard, he was considered the next person closest to Roberto Carlos’s style of play in the L Back position for Brazil. The position currently taken by Marcelo.

On a positive note, I think for whatever it is worth, the players that were bought in would make an impact and add depth to the already depleted team. Park had been amazing for Monaco but I believe his style is similar to that of Chamakh, who was brilliant when he represented Bordeaux. Arteta and Benayoun would compliment Ramsey and Wilshere in a manner that would win games but like I said, only if they are consistent and healthy. Mertesacker would provide the height that Arsenal had been lacking in defense. Playing along with teammates like Vermaelen or Koscielny, the latter two would reduce his vulnerability against pacy attackers.
